2 Corinthians 10:3-7

Today we are reading 2 Corinthians 10.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:

2 Corinthians 10:3-7 - For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage battle according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete. 7 You are looking at things as they are outwardly. If anyone is confident in himself that he is Christ’s, have him consider this again within himself, that just as he is Christ’s, so too are we.

Honest Questions

1. Think through a list of the people you know. How many of them are obviously, actively, engaged in a relationship with Jesus?

2. How do we know whether or not the people we associate with are followers of Jesus?

3. Isn't it amazing that at least an influential group of the Corinthian's are apparently minimizing the significance of the Apostle Paul's value to their church? Is this a case of, "The more things change the more they stay the same"? Why or why not?

4. In what ways do we tend to exalt ourselves and the value of our gifts over the contributions other members of the body of Christ make to the world around us?

5. What can we do to recognize that the people around us are facing significant spiritual battles even when everything appears to be going well with them?

6. Do you need to repent for being overly argumentative, arrogant, disobedient, carnal, or self-confident?

7. Compare 2 Corinthians 10:3-7 to Colossians 3. How can we be more intentional about encouraging, supporting, and speaking the truth over our brothers and sisters in Christ?

8. 2 Corinthians 3:6-7 are two of my favorite verses. I absolutely hope that they are an accurate depiction of the way I come across to the people that know me. If you are reading this, please pray for me. On the outside it may look like I am doing great but, on the inside, I am going through a very difficult time. 2 Corinthians has been incredibly encouraging to me but, I am really struggling. Thanks.
