Welcome to our Online Bible Study.
We are glad that you are here.

Today we are discussing:

Philemon 1:17-21 - If then you regard me a partner, accept him as you would me. 18 But if he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge that to my account; 19 I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand, I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self as well). 20 Yes, brother, let me benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ. 21 Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, since I know that you will do even more than what I say.

Please, take some time to Share Your Thoughts With Us as they relate to this passage.

You can share anything that is on your heart but, if you don't know where to start, try reading these verses and answering one or more of the following "Honest Questions"

Honest Questions:

1. Tell us about someone or a group of people that have partnered with you in ministry?

2. What is one of the biggest decisions you ever made based upon the recommendation of someone else?

3. Have you ever attempted to take responsibility for the negative actions of someone else? If so, why did you do that?

4. Do you have a good enough reputation that people know you will do whatever you tell them you will do? If so, who taught you to live that way?

5. Who are some of your best friends in life and what is one thing you could do this week to remind yourself and them how much they mean to you?

6. Are you willing to ask people to give you something that would "benefit you in the Lord and refresh your heart in Christ?" If not, do you think that is a good thing or something you could work on? Why?

7. What would you do if your church leaders spoke to you the way that the Apostle Paul is speaking to Philemon in verses 8-9, and 21?

8. Do you realize this book is written from Paul to Philemon so that Philemon will welcome back into his custody, Onesimus, a runaway slave? Paul is asking Philemon to treat/receive Onesimus in the very same way Philemon would treat the Apostle Paul. After sending this letter and the runaway slave to Philemon, Paul is asking Philemon to release Onesimus from slavery and allow Onesimus to be a ministry associate. Now, read Colossians 4:7-9 and realize Philemon did in fact obey Paul, release Onesimus to do ministry in the early church. How does this story impact you and why do you think it is important for this story to be included in the collection of writings recognized as "the Word of God?"

9. What was your favorite verse in Philemon and why?

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading Philemon?
