Matthew 19:3-6

They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?” 4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
1. Why do you think the Pharisees wanted to test Jesus in this way?
2. Do you think Jesus passed or failed the test of the Pharisees in this story? Why?
3. Do you know that the 1st no-fault divorce law was introduced in 1970 and signed into law by then Governor of California Ronald Reagan?
4. Why do you think the number of annual divorces in the united states has dropped from 1,193,062 in 1979 to 782,038 in 2019?
5. Is it reasonable to think that marriage is intended to be between one man and one woman?
6. Is it reasonable to think that marriage is a union that should only be dissolved by death?
