Matthew 17:5-7 - While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.”

1. Several times miraculous things have been documented by Matthew to show us that Jesus is worthy of our worship. Are you convinced? If so, how did you become convinced?

2. Which of the miraculous stories about Jesus is your favorite and why?

3. Obviously, this experience shaped Peter's life. What type is an event from your story that helped you better understand who Jesus is?

4. Do you think God still speaks to people like this? If so, have you ever heard it or do you know anyone who has?

5. Have you ever been overwhelmed, frightened, or terrified by an understanding off who Jesus is?

6. In this story God tells us to listen to Jesus. Do you think reading the Bible is the same as listening to Jesus? If not, why not?

7. Should we be spending more or less time focused on the Gospels?

8. Can you describe a time where Jesus came and gave you peace?

9. What was your favorite verse in Matthew 17 and why?

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading Matthew 17?
