2 Corinthians 1:3-6

Today we are reading 2 Corinthians 1.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:

1 Corinthians 1:3-6 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. 6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer;

1. When you read 2 Corinthians 1 what are some, or at least one of the elements that stand out most to you and why?

2. Have you ever been in so much physical danger that you were in fear of losing your life? If so, how did you make it through that situation?

3. Have you ever been physically assaulted, forced to moved, or persecuted in any physical way because of your faith? If so, what did you learn through that experience?

4. Do you think there is any possibility that the United States will become a place where freedom of religion or freedom of speech is taken away from its citizens? If so, how do you think we should respond to that concern at this time?

5. How does the story of Christ sufferings comfort us when we are suffering? Is this comfort only accessible to people that are being physically assaulted or is it available for all of us no matter what sort of afflictions we face?

6. What sort of sacrifices are you making to help bring salvation to others?

7. In what ways do you attempt to comfort people who are suffering, being afflicted, tormented, or persecuted?

8. Will you take some time to ask God to show you the name or the face of someone you could minister to this week?

9. What is was your favorite verse in 2 Corinthians 1 and why?

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading 2 Corinthians 1?
