Welcome to our Online Bible Study.
We are glad that you are here.

Please, take some time to Share Your Thoughts With Us as they relate to 1 Thessalonians 4.

You can share anything that is on your heart but, if you don't know where to start, try reading these verses and answering one or more of the following "Honest Questions"

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 - For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. 8 So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.

Honest Questions:

1. Do you think of sanctification as something that happens to the way you think and feel or is it something that changes the way you act?

2. In addition to 1 Thessalonians 4:3, what are some other passages that specifically talk about the will of God for our lives?

3. How do you define sexual immorality?

4. We are familiar with "lustful passion" in our culture but, what do you think it means to "possess your own vessel in sanctification and honor?"

5. Why does the Apostle Paul seem to pit sexual immorality, lustful passion and knowing God against each other?

6. When was the last time you allowed the scripture to redefine the difference between right and wrong for you?

7. Which one of these words "transgress," "defraud," "avenge," "warn," or "reject" speaks loudest you in this passage? What does it mean for you, and why do you think that is an important message for you or your community at this time?

8. Is this passage saying, "if a person embraces sexual immorality they are rejecting God?" If not, what is it saying? If so, how should a person respond when they hear it?

9. What was your favorite verse in 1 Thessalonians 4 and why?

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading 1 Thessalonians 4?
