1 Corinthians 10:11-14
Today we are reading 1 Corinthians 10.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:
1 Corinthians 10:11-14 - Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

You can share anything that is on your heart but, if you don't know where to start, try reading these verses and answering one or more of the following "Honest Questions"
Honest Questions
1. On average, how much time do you spend thinking about a chapter like this after you read it?
2. What sort of observations do you make when reading this chapter?
3. If you were to narrow this chapter down into a point or two what would you say?
4. Which of the 4 bad examples listed in 1 Corinthians 10:6-10 seem to be most common in our culture at this time?
5. As I write these questions, I am struck with another observation about how there are really not that many problems in the world. If we make a list, which the scripture does frequently, the list is relatively short. However, the lists we make all seem to be the byproduct of one issue. Christ is the answer to that issue. What can we do to remind ourselves of the glory of Christ this morning?
6. Christ is the answer to our problems. I know it is true but, as I write these questions, I am overwhelmed by the responsibilities of ordinary life. On one hand, rejoicing that we are living life well and loving it. On the other, aware of how easy it is to make bad decisions and suffer the consequences. What can we do to recognize the pain the people around us are going through?
7. The temptations we face have been and are being faced by people every day. What is a good way or a safe place for you to talk with someone about the temptations you are currently facing?
8. Compare 1 Corinthians 10:13-14 and 1 Corinthians 10:7 have you ever thought of defining idolatry as, "sitting down to eat and drink and rising up to play?" How does that definition of idolatry align itself with the "American Dream?"
9. What is was your favorite verse in 1 Corinthians 10 and why?
10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading 1 Corinthians 10?
